I have been all about the dark wax lately.. I have been using it on everything (more dark wax tutorials hopefully soon!). One thing I have been trying is to actually “paint” with the dark wax instead of just using it over my other paint makeovers.
I have this awesome grey set of candle sticks I received from Decor Steals last year. They are an awesome white washed grey. I had moved them around the room a few times and something was off. I was currently working on a project using the dark wax and I said why not? So I just slapped some dark wax on with my buffing brush.
The first one really soaked in the wax and I loved how it looked! The light color still shined through.
Unfortunately, as you can see, the next candlestick basically turned completely black. I went back and darkened the first a little more. I also wiped the 2nd down and rubbed some of the wax off. The last candlestick absorbed the wax at the same level as the first and then I was done!
I love the contrast it gives in this room full of light colors. It only took 15 minutes and I think it came out awesome :).
